Hello, reader #301203

Most of you reading this, probably never heard of me. Thats ok, like you, I'm also very anonymous, but you should know that you're reading the very first blog post in a long series of possibly very incoherent material. Or so I hope (the long part, not the incoherent part). It's also a very important post since in this post I will have to define what I will write about. Hence the title 'Genesis'. For a person with no clear direction and no apparent 'marvel-super-human-being' skills this might be one of the hardest things to do. I decided it was best to start out the blog with the development of the blog and website itself. So I'm writing this even before the development started.

Inception

So, the first thing on the agenda. A name, I'll probably be stuck on this for about a week or so. There will also be a few nights where I'll wake up thinking: 'Wow, that's a perfect name!'. Following a short search for my cellphone to write or type it down and then an unavoidable memory whiping snooze. Everyone recognizing himself should know that sleep is important and not for the faint of heart. If there is a super power I posses, it would be an extremely volatile memory hub. Those things aside, after several days I made myself sit down and think about what makes the 'current me' happy and what keeps me busy in this period of my life.

I created this snapshot of a time in my life where I found myself to want to be good at everything, but was missing out on being great at a specific something. I like to travel, sport, code, read and play. I like poetry, business, and IT. I like to gather information about all kinds of things. I follow a lot of TV series and like to hang out with friends. And aside that, I have to spend time with my SO. Rephrase, because she might read this and I would not like to update this blog to make these sentences past tense (:p): 'I want to spend time with my SO'. Having all these thoughts just rambling about in my brain in a split second made me wonder what the point of the snapshot was. I shouldn't be looking at something I like at the moment. My feelings about it could change fast. I should be looking at what stayed with me all these years from the past.

Memory recollection

Right now, I am looking in my non-volatile memory, which isn't all that good. On a good day, I'll get past a few years of adequate memory recollection. Again, I've never followed through on a lot. The two things that I've always known are IT and football. The European kind, not the American kind of football. Trying to link this to an original name is either to obvious or to lame. But then I remembered the title of a poem. The poem has always stuck with me because, and this might sound stupid, I like the way the words sound together.

A lot of people listen to the content or the style of poems. Or how the poem surprises them. I like to listen to a poem the way it sounds. Ofcourse I like a bit of content because, well, you have to write about something. But there's something about poems that arrange a series of coherent words and sentences plus create a beautiful symphony. The poem I'm referring to is also quite famous but I haven't found any poem in its kind that's so dazzingly beautiful. The poem 'Jabberwocky' is written by Lewis Carrol in his book 'Through the looking glass'. Later picked up by Disney in 'Alice in wonderland'.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

The reason this stuck with me is because it's nonsense, but the meaning is clear. It's strange, but beautiful. It's written, but musical. So, I thought: 'Let's do something with this poem'. 'Beware the webberwock, my son!', I yelled out with a flashlight held under my chin. My parents and SO were looking like I'm the strange one so I quickly crawled away in the darkness I came from and started crawling the internet for authenticity of the name 'Webberwocky'. Obviously(?) and regretfully, this name was already taken by some obscure development firm in the UK. So I settled - for the moment - with 'The Vorpal blog', referencing sharp posts and intelligent nonsense. I started development on this glorious new blog. For those who still don't know what I will be writing about after this, quite obvious, first blog post. I will be writing about several topics including web development, some UX and other topics may be added when the need arises. Crystal clear like always!

I'll be releasing the fruits of my work weekly at first (the first few blog posts are already written down). After that, I will be releasing on whatever time frame I d*mn well choose.
